Sunderland Takes Western Oregon University!

Sunderland Takes Western Oregon University!

Sunderland is in Monmouth, Oregon tonight to take the stage for Western Oregon students the second time this week. Tonight they will be opening for The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, so if you have a free night come and watch the guys rock out the Pacific room.

Sunderland is a local Northwest band from Hood River, Oregon. McKinely Kitts, Dylan Bauld and Zachary Grace have been together since 2007 and found their forth limb Kyle Hill off Craigslist. As McKinely put it, “Craigslist, where you find everything good at.” They all moved to LA just a couple weeks ago and are ready for what is next, so keep updated with the band through Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Sunderland released an album last spring called Closer Now.  It took close to a year to finish the album, but was worth it getting the sound and producer they wanted. I mean John Fields is no big deal or anything. Anyways, when talking with the band about their work they emphasized the curse of perfection and sound. They work hard with writing and recording during their time and say there is NO MESSING AROUND!!

They have toured the US and do plan on making that trip to Europe, but with travel comes cost so the band is going to wait for the right moment. I am excited to put their album on my iPod and start listening to Closer Now. Go follow them on Twitter and Instagram, like them on Facebook, buy their album, or re-post a song/ video.

Thank you Sunderland for the quick meeting and Rock the stage tonight!

KNW+ Tope “What Up” Song of The Day

KNW+ Tope “What Up” Song of The Day

I recently been listening to the highly talked about album “Trouble Man” released this summer by Northwest rapper Tope. I posted a couple months back the video to the song “Church Girls” off the album. While working in the yard yesterday raking leaves the song “What Up” popped on and instantly I was feeling good about life. Tope shows love in this song to those who have had an impact on his career and life. I have this song on repeat because it inspires me to always remember those who helped mold me into the person I am today and who I will be in the future. Thank you Tope for keeping the work up! I’m excited to listen and see what you have up your sleeve next. Go follow Tope on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, go download his albums off iTunes or Bandcamp and remember to Enjoy Tope.

KNW+Raz Simone “Hometown”- Song of The Day

Raz Simone puts on for his Hometown Seattle, Washington in this video he released in April. This past year Raz flew from Seattle to New York legally with his gun without the airline or police informing him of the change in New York guns law. Today was the first time really listening to Raz Simone and holy shit am I glad I find his music. I chose this as the song the day to help Raz in his misfortune and to welcome him into my heart. Go help support and bring Raz back to his hometown. Go to Razsimone.com to help the cause and share this video.

KNW+BFA-“Pike & Broadway” Song of The Day

KNW+BFA-“Pike & Broadway” Song of The Day

Next week the fall term begins while summer ends, but Brothers From Another keep the summer vibe alive with their Tacos On Broadway EP. I can’t help but bounce to the music as I ride my bike through town. I have been playing Pike & Broadway and Mad Park Beach Bum all day,  Cole brings a smile to my face with his 90’s references from Power Rangers to to the impure thoughts all boys had for Tapanga from Boy Meets world. Cole brings such an awesome message from past experiences, questions that need answered and whats next for him and the family.  When I hear Tiglo go in on Pike & Broadway I have to close my eyes and vibe with what he says. I understand and love this song being a college student who goes through the same problems of no food, zero money in the bank, applications  for jobs and scholarships and the overall question of “When am I going to graduate”.  I have said it once and will keep saying it, these guys have talent and will only bring more to the table in the future. You can find their Eps on their website linked above.

Seattle Reign under Portland Rain.

Last night the Boys of Seattle set the stage on fire. With a great Dj set from Dj Beeba of Brothers From Another(BFA) and a solid beginning performance by the young Seattle brothers Tiglo and Cole, or BFA for short. Asking Cole about how he felt going on the tour with Sol he responded, “We feel blessed for the chance to go on this tour with Sol. He has been a friend since we connected with each other three years ago.” After watching BFA perform last night I became more excited to see what these guys will do in the future.

Sam Lachow and B skeez came on stage and did what they do, but only after they were welcomed by the beautiful voice of Ariana Deboo. It was my first time watching Lachow perform, and will not be the last. He is a great perform and is having fun doing it. I for sure enjoyed listening to his freestyles and his performance of Gary Peyton(which was the first song I ever heard from Sam.) with B Skeez, who will only be performing in two more shows on the tour.

There isn’t much I can say about watching Sol perform besides it was what I have been waiting for ever since I became a fan. His performance was amazing and actually brilliant. Playing songs from Yours Truly, Dear Friends, and his new EP Eyes Open. After Sol ended his set, the crowd did exactly what a crowd should do after a show like last night, and that was call out for more, “SOL”. He came out and and brought Sam and the Brothers with him as he needed the night with Spliff remix and his crowd favorite 2020. It was a perfect way to end my summer and start the Northwest fall with some Seattle Reign under the Portland rain.

On my way home from the show around 1:30 am bumping BFA’s Taco Tuesday EP the song Mr. Dynamite comes on and as I listen to the lyrics I felt a quick vibe as I look down and see my “quarter tank of gas cruisin’ no money.” I would say it was the exact way I needed to end last night. Thank you Sol, Sam Lachow, and Brother From Another for making the music I can listen to, connect to, and write about.

You can get tickets at solsays.com and you can follow all artists on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Brothers From Another- Pike & Broadway

BFA are joining SOL for the West Coast Tour that pops off tomorrow in Portland, Oregon. I am able to attend the concert and excited for a night of good people and amazing hip-hop. BFA has started making their presence known across the country and making a name for themselves in Seattle Hip-hop. Sam Lachow will be joining the tour and I hope the West Coast is ready to be hit by three different types of Seattle Hip-hop.

Rose City Circle Fashion Week

September 12th Portland, Oregon opened up fashion week with a free event hosted by Rose City Circle. Rose City Circle(RCC) is a group consisted of four local Portland street wear brands. Each brand having their own message image, but all sharing the same mission.

I was able to attend this event as a VIP and want to give thanks to Triibe Movement for the invitations. ( I also interviewed The Triibe and a post will be in the future.) . This event was exactly what RCC wanted and a perfect opener for Fashion Week. At first entrance I was greeted by Co-owner of The Creators, Andrew Woods. Having the opportunity to meet and greet with Andrew was awesome, listening to what the RCC has in planned for their first event and what each brand can bring to the Circle.

Bullē Classic is a name you have heard before if you have kept up on my posts. Like always hanging out with the boys from Bullē was a blast. In a new environment for me knowing these guys really helped, not too mention the Rum&coke kept conversation at ease.

Talking with Mia Robinson and Diamond Ferguson, owners of Triibe Movement I was able to catch a glimpse at how it is hosting your their first event. The ladies are excited for being part of RCC and can’t wait for what is in the future. When asking what they want to bring out of the RCC most Mia said, “Too bring the community out from behind the keyboard and into a public environment, whether it be business or recreational.”

I also met with the owners of The Incorporated who have more of a city and political view and message behind their brand. Mark McGinnis studied at University of Portland and brings Seattle to Portland in his creative ideas behind The incorporated.

Having the chance to shake hands and put a face and name behind the companies that I follow, enjoy, and love is always a blessing. I received business cards from multiple people and now see where my future can go with the building of a community of friends and family.

You can check out all these brands at their websites linked below and also find them on twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Tumblr.
